I was born in Alert Bay in 1956. Our family moved the the Bay in the early 70's, to try to further our education. We stayed there for a few years, then moved to Victoria. I attended Landsdowne School until Grade 10, after which I moved around a lot gaining fishing and hunting experience. While living in Victoria I used to take in some of our band members for the boarding home program. After most of them graduated I was left alone, so I decided to move home to Kingcome. BEfore I moved home I struggled with alcohol and drugs. I can proudly say I've been off the booze for over 20 years and the drugs over 10 years. Kingcome has been the best place for me to clean-up. Our community really helped in their own way, and I would like to thank you all.
I got nominated and elected to be on council, which I do enjoy. I hold the portfolios for Land, Marine and Resource, Economic Development, and Language and Culture. I am an alternate for the Operations and Maintenance, Housing, and Education. I also sit on the MDTC Board.
Lately it has been hard to focus, but I am looking forward to the New Year. As I write this during the holiday season, I would like to say Merry Christmas and Happy New year to you all!
